"NewsRadio" co-star Andy Dick, "Saturday Night Live" vet Cheri Oteri and "Harriet the Spy" star Michelle Trachtenberg are set to join the cast of "The Real Inspector Gadget" for Walt Disney Pictures.
The film, directed by David Kellogg, stars Matthew Broderick, Rupert Everett and Joely Fisher.
Pic is about a police inspector (Broderick) working for Interpol who is reconstructed by a surgeon (Fisher) after an accident. He then becomes the Real Inspector Gadget, who, equipped with an array of weapons and tools, sets out to defeat the evil villain, Claw (Everett).
In the film, based on the animated TV series produced by Disney-owned DIC, Trachtenberg will play Penny, a young admirer whom Gadget protects from Claw; Dick plays a scientist and Oteri will play the mayor.
Jordan Kerner of Avnet/Kerner, Andy Heyward of DIC Films and Roger Birnbaum of Caravan Pictures are producing.
Pic begins production in Los Angeles next week and later will move on to Pittsburgh.
Dick's sole feature credit was a small part in "Reality Bites." Before "NewsRadio," he was a regular on "The Ben Stiller Show."
ICM repped Dick in the deal.
Oteri is an L.A. Groundlings alumnus and a current series regular on "Saturday Night Live." Her feature credits include "Liar Liar" and the current release "Small Soldiers."
The actress's deal was brokered by Chris Schmidt of Writers & Artists Agency and manager Lee Kernis of SKS Management.
Trachtenberg, whose credits include the title role in Par's "Harriet the Spy" and Saban's upcoming "Richie Rich Christmas," also was repped by Writers & Artists' Schmidt. She is managed by Handprint Entertainment.
